Success implanting bionic eye

Researchers from Bionic Vision Australia (BVA) announced in late August that they had successfully implanted an early prototype of a bionic eye into Victorian woman Dianne Ashworth at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne. The prototype consists of a retinal implant with 24 electrodes that stimulate cells in the retina.
