A look at fly-in fly-out work

In mining resource development locali ties the trend for fly-in fly-out (FIFO) is now commonplace. Personally, I see advantages for both working scenarios. I was a regional railway engineer at the beginning of my career. In mid-career I lived and worked in Perth visiting the regional areas when I needed to. Since 2008 I have worked on rosters from four days on/ three days off to four weeks on / one week off; living in hotels, villages and dongars. I am again working from Perth and fly to site for short visits.
