Hamish tyrwhitt was appointed chief executive of Leighton Holdings in 2011, after managing Leighton Asia. His knowledge of the region was recently recognised when he was named chair of the federal government's Asian Century Strategic Advisory Board. The major highlight of the past 12 months was the formation of the Leighton Group's first centres of excellence. "The centres of excellence will house a set of specialist competencies that we have explicitly recognised as an important source of value creation. In essence, we are looking at what we do best and what cannot easily be replicated by our competitors, in order to frame where and how we grow. These centres will bring specialist experience as they partner with our international businesses," Tyrwhitt said.
