摘要

The employment of engineers in some key areas is looking up for 2014 despite the continuation of the mining downturn affecting the industry, according to recruitment consultancy Robert Walters' latest Global Salary Survey. These jobs will come from the commencement of a host of major infrastructure projects with the report highlighting construction jobs in Queensland, and also oil and gas roles in that state and Western Australia. Additionally, new jobs won't be the only benefit. Higher salaries for engineers are expected for experienced oil and gas operations and maintenance engineers as demand rises in that sector although, according to the report, this will result in a salary plateau for project engineers as their roles on these projects become less important by comparison.
