PUBLICLY FUNDED CRCS TO STIMULATE MANUFACTURING

Bruce Grey, the managing director of the Advanced Manufacturing CRC (AMCRC), said there is a need for more strategic thinking, effective collaboration and Australia's publi-cally funded research needs to be market and IP driven. According to Grey, the only market driven R&D tax incentives to industry currently available are those that exist in the CRC program. The AMCRC has had success in its work with bio-manufacturing, additive manufacturing and flexible industrial robots. An example was the collaboration with French company Safran and Monash University, which produced components for missile systems using additive manufacturing techniques.
