The Water Infrastructure Network, a consortium of municipal leaders, environmentalists, and the waterrnprofessionals, recently issued an 18-page report entitled Water Infrastructure NOW: Recommendations for Clean and Safe Water in the 21st Century. The report claims that over the next 20 years, drinking water and wastewater utilities must invest nearly $1 trillion for treatment plants, distribution systems and waste-water collections systems to upgrade aging water infrastructure systems and to meet new federally mandated standards.
