Over the next five to ten years, the infrastructure construction relating to the bridge-oriented contractor will require a much more sophisticated approach to estimating, bidding and contract execution. Corresponding to the labor force, sophisticated engineered working platforms will be required which are redundant in design, lightweight, cost-effective, meet the project specifications and perform as intended by the designers. There have been several work platforms and shielding systems introduced to the industry in the last 10 years, including Total Containment Systems, L.R's (TCS) patented, engineered platforms. The TCS systems provide an accessible, safe workplace, whether a 3,000 ft. long bridge on the Chesapeake Bay or an overpass grade separation over a busy highway. The TCS system can be designed and constructed to carry as little as 10 IbsVsq. ft. up to 200 Ibs/sq. ft. As a debris shield, the TCS system can be designed to carry loads in excess of 250 Ibs/sq. ft. uniform load.
