TAKEOFF AND ESTIMATING MADE EASY

McCarthy Building Companies Inc was bidding two large construction projects in Colorado that required the estimator to itemize the takeoff into numerous breakouts-a sorting process that is very time-consuming when done manually. On Center Softwares On-Screen Takeoff~R program provided the estimator with the flexibility to quickly break out the itemized takeoff, thus reducing the number of resources required to complete the takeoff for each project. The program's area and zone functions allowed the estimator to sort the takeoff into multiple breakouts with minimal efforts. In addition, the clients projects required the estimator to value engineer the project in order to bring the estimate under the original budget. To do this, the estimator needed to go back and modify the original takeoffs to determine less expensive methods or materials to construct the project. This required an extensive value-management effort to get back to budget once the estimate was completed. With On-Screen Takeoff, the estimator was able to select the existing items and easily assign them to new or other existing conditions with the click of a button. Compared to a manual takeoff, this saved numerous hours in the value engineering process.
