Federal credits are increasingly structured to support solar, biomass and geothermal renewable energy projects, which in turn creates new opportunities for developers and the construction community.Yet, in the excitement to move forward many owners and developers overlook some key steps in the process before they commit time and money to a project.rnThe first is the cost and time to go through the permitting process, regardless of the project size. Nearly every owner and project team underestimates both-and the consequences can be catastrophic to a potential project. Environmental permitting can take up to 5 years and in some cases 8-10 years, depending on the overall scope of the project.
