CEOs See 2013 Highs, Lows

Global engineering firms are optimistic about growth in 2013, based on a new survey. However, at a New York City conference last month, their CEOs said big business risks could affect whether the firms achieve rosy pro-jections of a 6.9% revenue boost and a record 12.2% increase in profits. Nearly 275 company leaders convened on Oct. 17-18 to provide a reality check to survey data provided earlier this year. The executives are from 210 engineers that represent about $90 billion in combined 2012 revenue, says Paul J. Zofnass, president of EFCG Inc., the sector financial adviser that hosted the survey and conference. Next year's earnings projection, if reached, would be the highest for surveyed firms since 1996.
