Drilling a Foundation for Modern Power Resources

The $2-billion, 585-MW Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center hybrid coal-fired powerplant, located in southwest Virginia, is expected to be one of the cleanest power stations of its kind. According to Dominion Virginia Power, the power station will burn coal, waste coal and biomass (wood chips) in its two circulating fluidized bed boilers to produce enough to power 146,000 homes at peak demand.
