Contractors Partner with Engineer to Cement Project's Success

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system is extending service to San Jose at the south end of San Francisco Bay. A portion of this extension passes through Fremont Central Park. To minimize the impact on the park, a cut and cover subway tunnel was used. This required excavation up to 36 ft below an important aquifer that could not be drawn down during construction.
