LA DOTD Uses Barge-Based Containment System to Rehab Canal Bridges

The historic LA 24 Little Caillou Bayou and LA 661 Bayou LaCarpe vertical lift bridges in Houma, Terrebonne Parish, La., are undergoing complete cleaning, painting and structural repairs as part of an over $2-million Louisiana Dept. of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) rehabilitation project. A key part of the project involves removing the lead-based coating off of 39,777 sq ft of structural steel surfaces on the 112-ft Little Caillou Bayou Bridge and the 196-ft Bayou LaCarpe Bridge.
