More Projects Planned As Economy Picks Up

Large design firms say they are observing a steady rise in activity for water and wastewater projects in recent months as public and private clients return to investing in infrastructure projects following a prolonged recession. "We're seeing a lot of really complex jobs, more so than a few years back," says Curt Cramer, president of the environmental division for Arcadis, Highlands Ranch, Colo. Many of those projects involve more sustainable water management, water reuse and reclamation, and engineering to replace or upgrade aging infrastructure, rather than designing new plants, he says.
