Construction costs in Minneapolis are up 2.9% over a year ago, according to ENR's February construction cost index for the city. That average compares to a 2.8% annual increase for ENR's 20-city index. The building cost index for the city was up 2.6% during the same period, compared to a 2.4% increase for the national average. A 22% increase in the lumber component boosted the Minneapolis cost indexes. Lumber prices in the city were responding to a rebound in housing, which reversed last year's 6.1 % decline in lumber prices.
