The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center found that improving data field collection using mobile app technology has made a marked improvement on the overall management of capital projects. Guillermo Ramos, director of the capital improvement program at the university, says, "It used to be that our inspectors would go out to a jobsite and document their findings on a piece of paper, then they would come back and turn in the paperwork to a clerk, who would then take the information and reenter it into our program management information system."
