Tied Arch Solution for a Mississippi River Landmark

Elegant, graceful, iconic. Those are the words Martin Furrer, P.E., S.E., uses to describe the unusual Hastings Bridge that crosses the Mississippi River at Hastings, Minn. As the lead bridge design engineer at Parsons, he was responsible for the project's intricate design. The project was completed for the Minnesota Dept. of Transportation (MnDOT) by the joint venture construction team of Lunda Construction of Black River Falls, Wis., and Ames Construction of Burnsville, Minn., with Parsons as the lead designer.
