Trifecta Impact on the New Jersey Turnpike Interchange 6 to 9 Widening Program

October 24, 2014 was a special day for AECOM, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) and an impressive team of consultants and contractors who planned, designed, managed and constructed the widening of the New Jersey Turnpike from Interchange 6 to 9. On that day, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie joined Dept. of Transportation Commissioner Jamie Fox and the NJTA to inaugurate the 35-mile turnpike expansion through Burlington, Mercer and Middlesex counties. Completed on time and under budget, this $2.3-billion project adds 170 lane miles to the turnpike, doubling the section's capacity from Interchange 6 to 8A and adding a third lane in each direction from 8A to 9. This project is the largest-capacity expansion in the 62-year history of the New Jersey Turnpike.
