Full Project Delivery on a Single BIM Platform

A public-private partnership (P3) is an innovative project-delivery method that builds upon the strengths of the design-build (DB) and alternative project delivery (APD) models. A hallmark of both the DB and P3 methodologies is an upfront collaboration by parties in the design and construction of infrastructure assets that results in increased efficiencies. These partnerships work together to serve and benefit the public. DB is the basic form of a P3, where the private company lays out and constructs the facility per the government requirements after a complete risk assessment. In return, the company takes a fixed amount as its charges. The role of a DB contractor in delivering the design and construction portion of a P3 project is similar to delivering a stand-alone DB project directly for the public owner. A primary benefit of P3 is the ability to allocate risks inherent in a project to the party best able to manage the risk.
