Given that so much has been written about strategic planning over the years, it's a little surprising that so few technology companies actually do it preferring instead to innovate, build a product and sell it. Strategy is frequently formulated on the hoof and is too often influenced by feedback from the last sales call. Suddenly one successful sale means that the whole company is changing tack. Sound familiar? If so, maybe it's time to get strategic.
