This work is the first part of a global study about the CO_2 mass balance in a tobacco industry, including the CO_2 sequestration in the tobacco plants, CO_2 sequestration in an eucalyptus forest, solar irradiation, and the approach methodology to obtain the CO_2 emission of the process in the industry. The aim of this work is to identify the variations in the CO_2 sequestration through the growing of tobacco plants in Chile and consequently in many parts of the world. It is necessary to correlate the on-site measured values through the tobacco plants growing with solar radiation, estimating the monthly absorbed CO_2 mass from the environment. With this correlation, it is possible to obtain a CO_2 balance in the industry knowing the total annual amount of emitted CO_2 and to compare it with the absorbed amount by the plant. It has obtained a methodology that can be used as a guide for future researchers of carbon balances.
