Graphics should be submitted as TIFF (tagged image file format) images. For GRAYSCALE figures, the resolution should be at least 400 DPI (dots per inch); for LINE DRAWINGS, 600 DPI.Each graphic should be sized no smaller than the physical size it should be in the journal. It's okay to submit a graphic at larger than desired finished size, but no larger than an 8-1/2 × 11 sheet of paper.Without these higher resolutions and reasonable size, the publishing program cannot produce a quality image.
