Graphics should be submitted as tifs. For GRAYSCALE figures, the resolution should be at least 400 dpi; for LINE DRAWINGS, 600 dpi. Each graphic should be sized no smaller than the physical size it should be in the journal. It's okay to submit a graphic at larger than desired finished size, but no larger than an 8-1 /2 × 11 sheet of paper. Without these higher resolutions and reasonable size, the publishing program cannot produce a quality image.
