Spangold: a new aura for intermetallics

摘要

Intermetallic compounds with unusual properties form the basis of a novel family of jewellery alloys. Drawing on fields in materials science as diverse as the study of solid state transformations, colour in metals and shape memory, Spangold represents an innovative departure from classical design materials, and gives impetus to the wider exploitation of intermetallic compounds as functional materials.
