Application of adaptive array antennas in mobile communications

The use of adaptive array antennas for communica- tion systems has been intensively studied to achieve high- speed data transmission and increase the capacity under the limited frequency resources. This idea is based on not only temporal but also spatial signal processing. It is conceivable that FIR filter techniques can be applied to adaptive array processing because of the similarity of their structures. However, some problems will occur when adaptive arrays Are applied to mobile communication systems.
