Real-world benchmarks and 32-bit MCUs

When selecting a 32-bit microcontroller for your next control application, it's good to keep in mind that processors from different vendors that look more or less the same on a datasheet can look very different when confronted with a real-world application. Although datasheet specifications and a Dhrys-tone MIPS rating provides a coarse starting point for evaluation, you must look deeper to ensure that the MCU has sufficient through-put and overhead margins to meet your current and future application needs.
