CMOS PA integration vs. GaAs

Multimillion unit shipments per month demonstrate that CMOS power amplifiers (PAs) are no longer in the realm of academic research, but a commercial reality delivering real benefits. Creating a device that can handle the harsh environment and high power required in a mobile phone has been no mean feat. A number of false starts along the way have led some to the perception that CMOS PAs cannot be made, or if they can, then surely they will not work very well. Neither of these perceptions is true.
