Tree power runs low-power circuits

Ateam of researchers from the University of Washington (Seattle, WA) successfully demonstrated that there is enough power in trees to run a custom circuit solely off tree power. The team does not expect tree power to replace solar, but the system could provide a low-cost option for powering tree sensors that might be used to detect environmental conditions or forest fires.
