The Platform Manager is a third-generation mixed-signal device family that integrates programmable analog and logic to support common functions, such as power management, digital housekeeping, and glue logic. This product offers a leap in the thought process when designing power and digital management functions. Typically, designers implemented power and digital management functions using discrete single-function ICs, CPLDs, and FP-GAs, as well as resistors and capacitors. Before this product you had torndevelop a unique solution for each platform management function using multiple single function ICs (from various vendors) making for a large BoM. Now, with this product, you only have a single ' chip that provides all the needed functions. It allows designers to integrate significant portions ofrntheir digital board/power management functions into this single chip. The devices are expected to be used in such applications as wireless infrastructure, networking core equipment, server, data storage, and high-end industrial instrumentation.
