At one time, making a phone call in a moving car was the future. Now it is so commonplace it is banned, for drivers. Mobile phone manufacturers are working with car manufacturers to exploit features and functions that consumers will use in phones and share them for in-car compatibility. Sony Ericsson takes this in-car communications further with steering wheel operation and the ability to transfer an incoming call to the mobile handset or headset. "The Bluetooth connection will only be used to access the phone", explains Sony Ericsson's partner communications specialist, Agnes Derderian. A car's life cycle is around seven years and a mobile phone's life cycle can be just 12months.
