Targeting backplanes, Winchester rolls one-piece 10-Gbit connector

Watertown, Conn. ― Winchester Electronics is looking to up backplane performance in core Internet Protocol router designs with the launch of a 10-Gbit one-piece compression-mode connector system, EE Times has learned. Slated for launch in the newyear, the SIP 1000 connector can support 10-Gbit transmissions over distances of up to 30 inches using Rodgers 4350 pc-board material and up to 20 inches across FR-4 when paired with a transceiver providing adaptive-equalization and pre-emphasis capabilities.
