Novas Software Inc. this week will look to stake out a key position in the emerging electronic-system-level (ESL) verification market with a debugger aimed at systems-on-chip that pack embedded processors. The first release supports transaction-based debugging; future releases will support software debugging and SystemC visualization, the company said. Many observers have noted that verification is leading the move to ESL design. SystemC modeling and simulation have become more common, and languages such as Verisity's "e" permit testbench development at a relatively high level. But a debugging capability is also needed, and that's why Novas decided to step in.
