Actel taps ARM core crafted for FPGAs

Madison, Ala. — ARM Ltd. today will announce the Cortex-M1, the first ARM soft core to be designed from the ground up for use in FPGAs. Actel Corp. has signed on as the lead FPGA partner and the first licensee for the configurable processor core, which lets designers minimize the FPGA fabric and resources used to satisfy the requirements of the target application.
