ECRA - Special issue on mobile technology and services

摘要

To increase profitability, the mobile phone industry has been promoting the broad adoption of a variety of mobile services. Despite these efforts mobile service adoption today remains low and is primarily confined to mundane applications such as SMS, ring tones and caller ID icons. Explanations given by experts range from a lack of compelling applications, poor design, ineffective business models as well as a mismatch between launched applications and the everyday needs of target users.
