Delivering digital music for free has created a war that rivals the biblical story of David vs. Goliath. This time, however, David is not winning. Napster indexes music stored on the computers of its more than 20 million users. Napster also provides software that enables each user to locate a desired song in Napster's index. Once found, a user sends a request for the desired file to the user that is storing it on his or her disk drive.
