DTI moves to keep the UK competitive on the international stage

Advanced research and development in electrical engineering is one of the world's most competi-tive areas. Britain has always been a world leader in this field, but these days it is engaged in a battle to maintain a viable presence. Developing nations in the Far East have leapt to the forefront in many areas, largely by doing the work cheaply. How can Britain compete against China, for example, when wages there are on average just 5% of those paid in this country?
