Tethered Internet appliances are experiencing at least a temporary setback, exemplified by 3Com's recent product-line cancellations. Booming sales of wirelessnetworked PDAs suggest, though, that there's a continued healthy market for portable devices with a blend of communications and computing capabilities (see "Pick Pocket," CommVerge, April 2001, pg 58). MediaQ hopes, with its MQ2074, to bring a PDA-like GUI to so-called smart phones.
