With fully interactive products now the norm, mechanical-control circuitry has emerged as an integral part of embedded-system design. Although designers have since the early days of electronics used electromagnetic-control circuits to energize motors, relays, solenoids, and speakers, today's "smarter" motion-control components replace traditional mechanical elements with microcontroller-based circuitry to improve accuracies and coordinate movements.
