Researchers aim for energy-harvesting CPUs

The National Science Foundation and the Nanoelectronics Research Ini-tiative of Semiconductor Research Corp recently awarded a team of research-ers from VCU (Virginia Commonwealth Uni-versity) two grants totaling $1.75 million to create powerful, energy-efficient computer processors that can run an embedded sys-tem without battery power. The research-ers based their findings on a paper pub-lished by the VCU research team in the August issue of Applied Physics Letters.
