OSHA Inspections to Increase

According to recent testimony by U.S. Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta to the House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, OSHA workplace inspections will increase in the future. In 2017 and 2018, OSHA workplace inspections occurred at the rate of about 32,000 each year, an increase from inspections in 2016. According to Acosta, as soon as the 76 new inspectors hired by OSHA complete their training, the number of inspections per year will increase even more. Acosta anticipates their training will be completed in one to three years.
