The maintenance and development of information-documentation professionals’ skills has always constitutednone of the major objectives of L’association des professionels de l’information et de la documentationn(the Association of Professionals of Information-Documentation (ADBS)). The hundred differentnand complementary training courses on information management proposed in 2007 were the result of anthorough revision, taking into account the most recent professional developments, requests from professionalsnand current research data. ADBS also seized upon the 2004 modifications to the law on continuousnvocational training, by introducing individualized training courses to strengthen its portfolio and to adaptnnew teaching formats. Distance-based training courses since 2006 have been organized in partnership withnthe national Academy of Arts and Trades and with the national Institute of Documentation Techniques.nThe next objective is to personalize training activities with the creation of workshops on very specificntopics directly connected to the problems of trainees. Another objective is to work more closely withnother associations in the sector such as the Association of Teacher-librarians to offer common trainingnprograms. To analyze the evolution of the information professions in order to follow emerging needsnfor continuous training, ADBS relies on sector-based and regional groups, and on its commissions. Thentraining commission in particular has the mission of watching the market, its structure and its quality. Itnis currently carrying out a national survey of university training programs, which will then be available onnits website.
