Thank you for the briefing on sex-offender registries and the struggles we have in Georgia with a law that fails to distinguish between those whose presence in the community represents a real danger and those whose behaviour is culturally or morally inappropriate ("Unjust and ineffective", August 8th). The registries can include rapists as well as teenagers who fell victim to their lust, which not only harms the cause of justice but makes the registries inadequate as tools to protect communities from predators.
