The Center for International Forestry Research advances human wellbeing, environmental conservation and equity by conducting research to inform policies and practices that affect forests in developing countries. We are one of 15 centres within the CGIAR. Our headquarters are in Bogor, Indonesia, and we have offices in Asia, Africa and South America. Not many research centres have a global engagement with a broad range of forest-related issues, stress the perspectives of poor countries and communities, combine policy and research, question conventional wisdom, and constantly focus on how to have an impact. CIFOR is one of those few. We have several exciting opportunities: Deputy Director General The Deputy Director General will function as CIFOR's chief operating officer, with delegated responsibility from the Director General for leading, planning, executing, managing, and monitoring the full range of CIFOR's global research and impact-oriented activities. This role requires coordination of activities across three CIFOR research programs and their contributions to CGIAR Research Programmes (CRPs), regional and project offices, and the support services provided by information, human resources, and finance and administration units. Director of Forests and Environment Programme The Forests and Environment Programme considers biophysical and ecological aspects related to the conservation, sustainable use and management of forest ecosystems, populations and species. The Director will lead research and manage a team of scientists in collaboration with the Director of the CGIAR Research Programme 'Forests, Trees and Agroforestry' to bring together and expand existing research in CIFOR. The Director reports to the Director General and is a member of the Management Group.
