sir - As a judge in New York state's "feeblest branch" the issues that I have with cost-cutting in the court system are not simply to do with frozen salaries ("The feeblest branch", October ist). I preside in a judicial district bordering Vermont and Canada, a region that is larger than Rhode Island, with ten other trial judges serving nearly lm people.
