1. Japanese industry has enjoyed a bounce in output over the last few months, resulting from the unwinding of the ferocious destocking process seen around the turn of the year. In May, output rose 5.7%, the third successive monthly increase.rn2. Manufacturers' forecasts suggest a further rise in June, so that output for Q2 as a whole should rise around 9%. This in turn should translate into a rise in GDP for Q2 of around 1%, following an almost 4% decline in the first quarter of the year.
