1.The past few months has seen a modest pickup in prices and activity, though they both remain well below pre-recession levels and the recent pickup is unlikely to be sustained. The various prices surveys have showed a degree of variation, with the Halifax index reporting a quarterly increase of 0.4% in Q3 and the Nationwide index remaining flat. Meanwhile, the CLG index, which lags behind the others, saw relatively large increases in both July and August, albeit they followed weaker data earlier in the year.
