At the heart of David Ley's latest book is an important question: what does it mean to bring a geographic imagination to the study of transnationalism? Ley attempts to address this question by focusing both on specific places-most notably Canada and, within Canada, Vancouver-and on connections between geographically differentiated places, described by Ley as "social fields." In doing so, he provides an empirically rich and theoretically nuanced investigation of transnationalism, based on over 15 years of research centered on, although not restricted to, Vancouver.
