Guest Editor's Introduction

摘要

The Fourth International Conference of the School of Economics and Business, University of Sarajevo (ICES 2008), was held October 9-10, 2008, in Sarajevo, focusing on transitional challenges of EU integration and globalization. The conference was organized during the onset of the global financial crisis, which affected the entire world and particularly Central and Eastern European countries. The crisis of the global financial sector; rise of food, mineral, and energy prices; slowing pace of economic development; and rising inflation were all signs of potential triggers for recession and a possible slide into economic imbalances and structural problems.
