Dry bulk

Although 2007 ended with the dry bulk market on a slight decline, no-one can deny that it has been an exceptional year. With the Baltic Dry Index rising to over 11,000 points (from a starting position of less than 4,500) it is clear that market fundamentals have never been so strong. As the new year starts the market is waiting for activity levels to pick up again. Whilst rates are down slightly, the fact that they are over 150% higher than this time last year means few are expecting a slow start.
