Coasters gain, VLGCs lose

The Baltic LPG Index has had a steady month. It softened during the first half of the month, but then recovered and was steady through the remaining days. The average AG-Japan voyage was down 9% as waiting tonnage in the Arabian Gulf outnumbered cargoes available for loading. Daily earnings came down to around $13,700, still making some contribution to operating costs. Similarly, there was subdued activity for west of Suez voyages. Not much gain is envisaged for VLGCs in the near term, until winter demand reappears.
